Tragedy strikes again!

The events that occurred in Boston are horrific and only remind us that no place is safe from terrorism.  No one could have ever anticipated a race's finish line; a moment that is supposed to evoke accomplishment and joy, could bring upon tremendous agony and sorrow instead.  Just as we never imagined a school full of children, movie theatre, or mall could be the target of such devastating onslaughts.  The most frustrating part of these tragic events is that there will never be an answer to our ongoing question of WHY?
What drives a person to commit heinous crimes that forever alter people's lives?  How can human beings possess such powerful hate that eliminating life from this world is a plausible option?  These are questions that rise to the surface every time a tragedy of this magnitude occurs.  These are questions that will never attain a justified answer.  There is a big hole of emptiness left in Americans' hearts when innocent bystanders have to lose their lives for no valid reason.

Although these adversities fiercely knock us down, there is one thing we can always rely on to pick us up.  Every time tragedy strikes, people come together to offer a helping hand.  Time and time again we witness heroes that run straight into the commotion to help, instead of running away.  Be it police officers, fireman, medical personnel, or average citizens; they all come together to pick up the broken pieces, never stopping until the fixed puzzle is complete.  Terrorists try hard to evoke fear in our hearts, but they will never break our spirits.  It may take time to recover, but life must go on.  The best revenge is showing these monsters that no matter what they do to tear us down, we will always come together as the UNITED States of America and overcome all.

The monotony of life tends to desensitize our emotions until these incidents do occur.  Crohn's may present great pain and struggle in my life, but it's times like these that remind me I still have a life worth fighting for.  I hope through these tragedies people walk away with a greater appreciation for the things often taken for granted.  Life is so short and in one short moment your existence could be altered forever.

My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
